W. A. Glasner Residence

This Frank Lloyd Wright residence, completed in 1906, overlooks a ravine along Sheridan Road. Threatened with demolition in 2003, the building was purchased by a preservation-minded owner who retained VHA to assist in renewing the organic relationship of the house with its site on the shoulder of the ravine. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building was restored and a preservation easement will discourage future alterations. Work included structural stabilization, reversal of unsympathetic modifications, refreshing the existing art-glass windows, returning the landscape to its original descent into the ravine, and integration of new mechanical systems including geothermal heat pumps.
